H is for HOW TO DATE AN ALIEN

Today is the eighth day of the A to Z Challenge. I don’t really have a set theme, but I’ll be blogging about writing, favorite books, bloggers’ books, and music I listen to while I write.

H is for Magan Vernon's HOW TO DATE AN ALIEN

From Goodreads:

High school senior Alex Bianchi's estranged father gets her an internship at Circe Operations Center to pad her college applications. But Circe isn't your typical military base. It's an alien-run operation center and not all of the aliens are friendly, especially the one that tries to kill Alex on her first day. When Ace, a dark-eyed Caltian, enters and saves the day, she can't help but be drawn to him. Can these star-crossed lovers survive when they're on the brink of intergalactic war?

Magan Vernon weaves a wonderful alien-human romance. Alex faces many obstacles interning at her dad's military base, which to her astonishment holds alien life forms. The alien she falls for, Ace, is swoonworthy. Their romance is a slow, delicious simmer with plenty of flirtation until their feelings are out in the open. Many people are not taking to Alex and Ace's romance and are doing their best to quell the fire between the two. Some of the naysayers are discriminatory, against alien-human romances, while others fear that Ace is powerful and dangerous. He may harm Alex. There's also the end of humanity to consider since Ace is alien royalty and his mother, the queen of the planet Calta, is against the relationship.

'There's also the end of humanity to consider'. Now there's a line you don't read every day in YA romance ;-)

I'm a little alien-phobic, but if there's a romance involved, I'm keen!
