A ROW80 Update

It's time for a ROW80 update. The current round of A Round of Words in 80 Days runs from January 2nd to March 22nd. My goal during this round of ROW80 is to a) edit WIP #1 and get it to beta readers and b) write at least half of the first draft for WIP #2 based on the outline I wrote during the previous round. I’m not one to write in detail about my WIPs online, so I’ll use abbreviations of the titles. WIP #1 is TWILAMPH and WIP #2 is EK.

TWILAMPH: I'm aiming for 2 or 3 rounds of edits before I get the manuscript to beta readers. ROW80 began last week and so far I edited 6 out of 28 chapters.

EK: I wrote the first chapter for this, when the outline calls for 24 chapters. I was aiming for 2 chapters, but I fell short because I was figuring out the best way to open the story. I expect to do better for next week's update now that I've established the flow of this draft.

I signed up for the I'm Hearing Voices! Character Blogfest. I will write three character-driven pieces, 250 words or less, from February 6-10. If you'd like to sign up, the post with details is here

Last week I saw a link on Facebook and Twitter regarding a blogger by the name of Candace and her blog entitled The Misadventures in Candyland. The link was to this post, and it just broke my heart so I provided some assistance. I'm passing along the link the same way others have. If you're able to help out, it would be great.

I donated last week to Candyland. My first born was three months premature, so I understand about hospital costs (not that I had to pay any (other than parking) since I live in Canada).

Good luck with your goal! :D

You are busy! Wishing you continued success with ROW80, TWILAMPH and EK. And with the blogfest.

Thanks for the link, too. I'll head over to check it out.

Good luck with your ROW80 goals :)
Last week I found out about Candace as well. It's very kind of you to link up to the blog. I will do the same on my next post.

I struggled with the opening of my WIP, too. But after I got passed chapter three, the words started to pour on to the screen. I hope you have similar luck with your WIP.

'I'm aiming for 2 or 3 rounds of edits before I get the manuscript to beta readers.'

How many beta readers do you typically enlist?

I hope progress on your WIP's continues to go well. The opening of the story is one of the hardest parts unless it shows itself early on.

Will check out the link.

Your goals are great. Like you, I don't talk about WIPs much. I applaud your productivity!

Good luck with your goals!

Openings are difficult; they have to strike that balance of setting everything up, without overloading the reader.

I second the motion to pop over to Candyland. I'm so glad she asked for help. I think it's really hard to do that even when we really need it. Sending buckets of good vibes to you for ROW80.

Sounds like you are doing well with your goals. Keep it up! Today's been a week of slipping behind for me, but I blame that on being a bit under the weather. Thanks for the link to Candyland's blog.

i have no idea what are the differences between 'edits' and 'beta readers', but it seems you do, which is all that matters.

I dunno what 'ROW80'is either, but then I Googled it. I am now enlightened.

Good luck.

Good job this week! I'm impressed by how quickly you edit.

I'll check out the Candyland blog too and see if I can help.

Good luck with your goals, Medeia!

Also, I kept meaning to tell you but kept forgetting... I read "Bestest Ramadan Ever" last month and totally loved it! I thought your MC was hilarious and authentic. Left you a great review on Goodreads. :)

Hope your new year is off to a good start!
