I Love Dark YA and ROW80

This is my last and final post for the I LOVE DARK YA blogfest, which ran every Wednesday of NovemberToday all participants are blogging about a dark YA book they're most looking forward to.

I'm looking foward to K.M. Walton's CRACKED. It will be released in January. Here's the description from Goodreads:

Sometimes there's no easy way out.

Victor hates his life. He has no friends, gets beaten up at school, and his parents are always criticizing him. Tired of feeling miserable, Victor takes a bottle of his mother's sleeping pills—only to wake up in the hospital.

Bull is angry, and takes all of his rage out on Victor. That makes him feel better, at least a little. But it doesn't stop Bull's grandfather from getting drunk and hitting him. So Bull tries to defend himself with a loaded gun.

When Victor and Bull end up as roommates in the same psych ward, there's no way to escape each other or their problems. Which means things are going to get worse—much worse—before they get better….

On a side note, by looking at the author's website and blog, she has a live action trailer contest going on. Prizes include film critiques by top industry professionals, as well as cash. If you're interested, check out the links.

Now it's time for a ROW80 update. The current round of A Round of Words in 80 Days runs from October 3rd to December 22nd. My goal during this round of ROW80 is to a) revise one of my WIPs and b) write the outline for a shiny new idea.

Since my last update all I did was finish an outline for my shiny new idea. I did not have a chance to work on my WIP. I was traveling quite a bit last week, and I'll be sharing pictures of my trips soon.

By the way, my giveaway for an ARC of Helen Landalf's FLYAWAY ended days ago. The winner was Christa. Congratulations. I hope you enjoy your prize.

Cracked sounds really good. Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't hear of the book before.

Is it sad that when I see a blue pill now I think of the Matrix immediately? Yeah, I thought so too. Congrats on finishing the outline. Good luck on your WIP!

CRACKED is already on my list of must reads.

I'm the same place with my new project. I'm still working on the characterizations and outline. I'm not in huge rush. I'm enjoying the process. :)

Even though you didn't get to your WIP this week, I'm guessing you cannot be too sad...did I see the word traveling? Um, yeah. I wouldn't be sad either. I love to travel. Can't wait to see your pics! Have a great week, Medeia!

This would be an interesting read, since I used to work in a psych ward.

Whoa. That does sound dark. And really nice and twisted--just the way I like it!

Sounds like another good one. :D this time of year is hard for a lot of people to get writing in.

CRACKED hardly sounds like a rosy way to ring in the New Year. Saying that, I like dark themes in my literature, and am thus drawn to its subject-matter.

Good for you for at least writing the outline for your shiny new idea. That's something accomplished!!
