I've been feeling like this lately.  I'm readying myself for my debut and revising one of my wips. There's also the day job.  I am tired.  I'm looking forward to summer vacation.

I'm going to take this opportunity to say that beta readers rock.  I felt something was wrong with a manuscript.  You ever have a lingering feeling that even though you like what you wrote, there's something missing?  I experienced that big time and my instincts were correct.  My betas have given me so much awesome feedback that now I know which direction to take my wip in.  I have a shiny-new-idea feeling with an old idea.

I was working on a bookmark for BESTEST. RAMADAN. EVER. and just when I thought I could send it to a printer, it was missing one thing.  It was an easy fix, but then I decided to change the color scheme.  I know I'm being fickle, but I want the nicest--or bestest--bookmarks possible.

And look at what I got in the mail.  I was the winning bidder in the Write Hope auction for Alissa Grosso's POPULAR.  Alissa is a fellow Elevensies and Fluxian.  I've had my eye on this book for a while, and now I get to read it soon.

Lastly, I've seen the following video posted on Twitter and on blogs and want to share it in case you haven't seen it yet.  Who else dislikes being interrupted while reading a book?

My daughter loves the kitten on your post. :)

Good luck with your wips and revisions!!! But do rest - although the kitty looks awfully cute - he or she needs to sleep too! LOL!

I love this silly song! I get most annoyed when I'm trying to read anything and someone decides to speak loudly on their mobiles or turns up their music through their headphones!

Take care
x

I don't blame you for taking your time on the bookmark. Of course you want it to be perfect! You must be so excited, now that it's nearly out!

Aww! That kitty is cute. And I love the video. I do hate being interrupted while i'm reading (or writing) a book. :)

Good luck with the WIP.

Medeia, I've now watched the video like three times. *LOL* Thank you for the comedy relief this a.m.! So happy that you've found awesome beta readers, I can see where they'd make all the difference in catching plot holes and things that might not make sense. Looking forward to seeing your book mark! Are you designing a button for peeps to share on their blogs for your debut? I'd love to put one up on mine. Lemme know. Have a great week. ; D

Love that cat! Meow! Glad to hear you're making head way in your WIP. I know how it is about that "something-not-quite-right" feeling. You're making progress though. Good!

LOVE the video! I would never interrupt that guy for anything :)

It sounds like you need a vacation, bad!

YAY that your book will be out soon! I look forward to reading it! It must be so exciting, creating bookmarks for it!

so great to hear you're getting the kind of feedback that helps. I love that too. The right beta readers are gold!

Betas are the best! And that kitten is making me sleepy.

I first saw that video when my nephew sent it to my niece on FB and said "This is YOU." It cracked me up. I hate being interrupted, but it's part of being a mom.

I love that kitten. That's how I've been feeling lately.

Hey medeia!
Good luck with your revisions. I'm dropping by to say CONGRATULATIONS for winning Curse at Zala Manor, in my Monster Moon giveaway! I'm announcing it on my blog later on today, but I thought I'd give you the heads up. Email me your home address so i can send it to you by today (nutschell@yahoo.com) :P

I love that video :) Also, I've been feeling the same way. I'm so glad I have CPs and beta readers who can help me find things I've missed.

Cats are like living emoticons.

It's almost over, Medeia. Remember thinking it was the KIDS who wanted school to end?

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

Aww, the kitten is so sweet! I can't wait to see what your bookmarks look like. How exciting!!!

Stina Lindenblatt said...

I can't wait to see what your bookmarks look like.

I saw the video a year ago. Yep, I have that look, too, when I read--especially when my kids keep interrupting me. :D

I LOVE beta readers. I'm in the midst of revising now, so I'll soon need to call on 'em.

Good luck with your revisions. Can't wait to see the bookmark!

That video is hilarious! My family would probably say that resembles my attitude when I'm interrupted :)

Jolene Perry said...

That was awesome :D

And yes, my readers rock, too...

Jo Schaffer said...

(= Your book looks like fun! And hurray for beta readers! What would we do without them?

Love the Julian Smith vid. We played that at the Teen Author Boot Camp and the teens loved it.

Lynda R Young said...

the video is awesome. Made me laugh out loud.

Alison Stevens said...

I hadn't seen the video, but I LOVE IT! Especially the eyebrow raises and the bagpipes at the end. :)

I'm sure you'll end up with the bestest bookmarks, and I can't wait to be reading YOUR book.

Victoria Dixon said...

Don't you just want to reach out and tip the poor kitten OVER? LOL I have to admit, I was laughing over the video UNTIL he stole the kid's birthday presents and yelled at the kid. I want to do considerably more than tip the singer over now. LOL He has a *problem.*

And yeah for beta readers! I SO love the "shiny new idea with an old shiny idea" feeling. It's been awhile, but I remember that!

Angela Felsted said...

That's cool you got "popular" in the mail. I probably would have laughed at the video if it didn't hit so close to home.

Carolina Valdez Miller said...

You sound as obsessive as me. I can totally see myself doing the same with the bookmarks!

Congrats on your win!

That video is hilarious.

Cynthia Chapman Willis said...

I know exactly how you and that adorable kitten feel. And another YES to having that lingering feeling that something I wrote just isn't quite right or missing a key element. Hurray for readers!

Good luck with your bookmarks and WIP!

I love that video clip! My husband has a fit if I interrupt him when he's reading the last few pages. He'll tolerate interruptions when he's in the middle of the first couple hundred, but once he gets to the last 20 pages, I know to tiptoe around him.

Love that cat too. It makes me sleepy just watching her.

Mary Witzl said...

And I agree with you 100% on beta readers. They can spot things I've managed to miss time after time.

Nice book cover on Popular. In a word, elegant.

Glad you got your WiP fixed. No sound on this pc, so I gotta watch the video later.

AWW, sweet kitty. :-)

Good luck, Medeia. I am looking forward to reading your book.

You should have the bestest bookmarks possible. It is your debut.

Oh and betas ROCK!

Maybe sleep in this weekend, if you can. :) Sounds like a lot of exciting (and possibly insomnia inducing) things are happening in your life right now!

laughingwolf said...

demented, that kitteh! :O lol

good to know you're back on track!

i'm constantly interrupted when trying to read... not a thing i can do about it, but ignore life... as if that's gonna happen any time soon ;)

Stephen Tremp said...

You and me both. I'm taking the week off from blogging, but am still visiting people and saying hello.

Susan Fields said...

I love that video! He was kind of scary looking - I don't think I'll be interrupting him when he's reading any books. :)

Deniz Bevan said...

Love the kitten! And isn't that video the greatest? I felt like that a lot as a teenager, when I'd sneak into corners to read and my parents or my sister would bug me (as I thought).
Congratulations on winning that auction!

runnersami said...

I laughed so hard at that video - too funny, thanks for posting. :) Sounds like you're having a great week with your win of Popular (I'm going to her launch next Friday and I'm super excited!) and your countdown to your own book launch. Have a great week!

Thank you, everyone, for the comments. :)

Ezzy, I don't have a badge, but my widget does have a code if you want me to send it to you, or you can do "view source" and it's on lines 928-929.

The video was, um, something. 'Course, flashing lights kill these old eyes. I'm very bad about giving my husband the evil eye when he interrupts my reading--which is a daily event seeing as I never stop reading and he never stops talking!
