My Summer

I had a bumpy summer, to say the least. The summer started with a flood. For several hours on June 5th, torrential rain and hail kept falling over Miami Beach. When I looked out the window I was shocked to see the streets immersed in water. I was then alarmed when my car wouldn’t start at first. And a week later my car completely died. I had to replace the computer and several other parts, so I was without my wet, moldy car for a few weeks (it took a long time to dry out). It's not a great feeling to be immobile when you rely on your car. Last Saturday was another rainy day to the extreme, and I worried that it would get just as bad as that June day, but it didn’t. The rain poured in around the same time that good news poured in. I just found out that I have an offer from a publisher. I can’t reveal much more since I don’t know all the details and it hasn’t been negotiated yet. So, the summer started off with a bang and ended well. The rain came and went away, I ended one day job to start another, enemies left and friendships became stronger, uncertainty turned into confidence, and bad things were balanced by the good. Overall, this is a summer that I’ll never forget.

What a beautiful first post! And though the picture and events are horrible, I can't help but smiling, knowing how far the Medeia I know today has come from this Medeia. Specifically, does she know she's about to get a book deal, I wonder? :o)
